Logic 8 Performance Environment Tutorial
Blog Post:
I get into Logic's most lauded feature in this tutorial. Many people say that Logic's MIDI handling power is unparalleled. It's all contained in a page called the environment, where you can route incoming midi into modules that modify the signals.
I show how to split your keyboard to two separate soft synths and also how to set up a basic patch switcher.
I have attached the resulting .lso file. You can import environment layers between songs using the menu options in the environment window.

Hi Mick,
I don't have the videos available for dl.
I'll have a new site up soon - with more extensive tutorials available for a reasonable price.

Hey Sam. Great tutorial, but
Hey Sam.
Great tutorial, but just as a tip when you get to the Transform window that you want to use as a Split, and you say something about how you need to do some math to figure out what Data Byte 1 should be when you want it to be C3. If you change the Status drop-down to Note, then Data Byte 1 magically changes to a Note, and you can select the not you want in the musical range (eg C3, F#4, D-2 etc) and not by note number. Hope this saves you some time in the future.
I only know this because it's the same in the Transform Window (the Cmd+4 one). Otherwise, great Environment tutorial.
Great Tip
Thanks for the Tip AJ!
